Services We Offer
Offering a wide range of patient services:
Neuropsychological assessments are designed to identify cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, uncover the root of struggles (beyond diagnosis), guide interventions, and provide individualized recommendations for children and adults. Depending on the needs of the individual, the assessment covers some or all of the following domains: intellectual, academic, attention, distractibility, working memory, executive functioning, emotional functioning, learning and memory, social functioning, behavioral, motor, verbal fluency, visual-spatial processing, and processing speed. Each assessment is individually tailored.
We offer specialized treatment for young children to adults, college counseling, group therapy, family and couples therapy, parent coaching, and Pivotal Response Therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our approach to therapy is eclectic and includes Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, and Family approaches. Our psychiatrists are available to provide medication management, titration, and consultation for optimization. We tailor all interventions to you. Your individual needs guide the therapy, goals, and orientation.
Educational Therapy & Executive Functioning Skills Coaching
Our educational therapy program is designed for students with needs related to learning disabilities, learning differences, dyslexia, AD/HD and executive functioning. Our learning specialist provides students with customized support. Our approach includes multi-sensory instruction using evidence-based methods. Students will learn to apply strategies across all subject areas to build independence and confidence.
Cogmed Working Memory Training
This is a home-based program that helps people with attention problems by training and increasing their working memory capacity. Clinically proven results demonstrate that after training, people can improve their ability to concentrate, control their impulsive behavior and better utilize complex reasoning skills. In addition, post-training evaluations show that Cogmed helps kids perform better in school. Parents and teachers reported improved social skills, initiative, remembering instructions, and completing assignments more independently. Adults have reported improvements in their ability to stay focused, ignore distractions, plan next steps, remember instructions, and start and finish tasks.
Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic is proud to offer Cogmed, an evidence-based program for improved attention. The program includes: an initial interview, a start-up session, 5 weeks of training from home with weekly coaching calls, a wrap-up meeting, a 6-month follow-up interview, access to the Cogmed training web, and the optional Cogmed extension program (12 months). This program is appropriate for preschool children, adolescents, adults, and elderly.

LearningRx – Cognitive Enhancement Training
LearningRx is an intensive cognitive skills training program designed for children as young as four through their early-twenties who demonstrate difficulty with attention and comrehension skills critical in the academic and/or work enviornment. While LearningRx trains academic skills such as reading, spelling, and math; the program’s true focus is on building up the underlying cognitive processes that support such skills. By targeting the brain’s overall capacity to process information, LearningRx strives to build stronger neural pathways through fast-paced and fun activities.Key cognitive areas of focus are: logic and reasoning, attention, auditory and visual processing, working memory, phonemic awareness, and processing speed. These skills are integrated throughout the program allowing it to produce significant cognitive changes quickly.
Neurofeedback & Biofeedback
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback acts as a drug-free solution for attention deficits, executive functioning weaknesses, anxiety, learning disorders, and brain injury by improving mental performance, emotional control, information processing, and memory in people of all ages. With individualized coaching from a neurotherapist, users navigate games and exercises with their mind to promote healthy brain function. Sessions typically last 30-45 minutes.
How Does Neurofeedback Work?
We use hospital grade EEG technology to snapshot brain activity in order to identify strengths and weaknesses. Results of the EEG guide intervention to target specific areas of the brain and reward positive activity corresponding to improved focus, memory, learning, and positive mood. Neurofeedback addresses the building blocks of learning challenges. Think of a learning difficulty like a house with holes in the foundation; Neurofeedback fills in those holes and works to improve learning.
What is Biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a non-pharmaceutical method to control stress, anxiety, depression, and to achieve a greater sense of overall relaxation. Through coaching, we teach the individual how to gain control of the body’s natural sympathetic (or arousal) response. The patient learns to take control and regulate temperature, heart rate, muscle tension, and more to calm the body and achieve improved health and well-being.
